چکیده

The impact of synchronous inputs onto a simple neuron model with synapses showing shortterm plasticity is studied. The synaptic model includes depression, stochastic release and facilitation. The mean and second-order statistics of the current are computed. The combination of synchrony and STP produces a non-monotonic behavior of the current variance , while the mean saturates monotonically. Provided that saturates under threshold, the output rate inherits the resonant behavior of , making the neuron respond maximally to a speci1c rate. Information about the input rate can be transmitted beyond the saturation of by means of . c © 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Augmentation of paired pulse index as short-term plasticity due to morphine dependence

Abstract* Introduction: Chronic morphine exposure can cause addiction and affect synaptic plasticity, but the underlying neural mechanisms of this phenomenon remain unknown. Herein we used electrophysiologic approaches in hippocampal CA1 area to examine the effect of chronic morphine administration on short-term plasticity. Methods: Experiments were carried out on hippocampal slices taken f...

نقش سلول های گلیا در پاسخ سیناپسی پایه و شکل پذیری سیناپسی کوتاه مدت ناحیه CA1 هیپوکمپ

Background and purpose: Glial cells seem to play role in synaptic plasticity because they have the ability to release trophic factors and gliotransmitters and respond to neurotransmitters. They also play important role in synaptic space homeostasis. In this study, the role of hippocampal glial cells in baseline synaptic response and short term synaptic plasticity were investigated.  Material...

Effects of Neonatal C-Fiber Depletion on Interaction between Neocortical Short-Term and Long-Term Plasticity

Introduction: The primary somatosensory cortex has an important role in nociceptive sensory-discriminative processing. Altered peripheral inputs produced by deafferentation or by long-term changes in levels of afferent stimulation can result in plasticity of cortex. Capsaicin-induced depletion of C-fiber afferents results in plasticity of the somatosensory system. Plasticity includes short-term...

Repeated administration of cannabinoid receptor agonist and antagonist impairs short and long term plasticity of rat’s dentate gyrus in vivo

Introduction: The effects of cannabinoids (CBs) on synaptic plasticity of hippocampal dentate gyrus neurons have been shown in numerous studies. However, the effect of repeated exposure to cannabinoids on hippocampal function is not fully understood. In this study, using field potential recording, we investigated the effect of repeated administration of the nonselective CB receptor agonist WIN5...

Aspirin changes short term synaptic plasticity in CA1 area of the rat hippocampus

Introduction: The prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), a cyclooxygenase (COX) product, play critical roles in the synaptic plasticity. Therefore, long term use of COX inhibitors may impair the synaptic plasticity. Considering the wide clinical administration of aspirin and its unknown effects on information processing in the brain, the effect of aspirin and sodium salicylate on the short term synaptic p...
